Why this is SO good:
It’s easy to be fancy - If you don’t have an espresso maker at home, the instant stuff is still delicious and oh-so-uncomplicated! If you can get real gelato…it’s even better! Scoop, pour, sprinkle, enjoy!
Ingredients:
1 Scoop Vanilla Gelato or good Vanilla Ice Cream
1 cup Espresso (make your own, or mix the instant stuff)
1 TBSP American Bourbon Black Walnut Sugar
How to make it:
Scoop 1 scoop of Gelato (or vanilla ice cream) into your favorite mug.
Make the espresso.
If making in an actual espresso machine, brew extra strong and dispense right onto the Gelato (or vanilla ice cream).
If you’re mixing an instant espresso, make it a little stronger than the label recommends! Pour the espresso right onto the Gelato (or vanilla ice cream).
Sprinkle the American Bourbon Black Walnut Sugar on top…get a spoon…and enjoy your life!
How to store it:
Not a good idea to make and store this - the part that makes it delicious is the hot espresso, cold ice cream, and crunchy sugar. If you make it ahead of time, you end up with cold espresso, warm ice cream, and melty sugar…and it’s just not as fabulous.
So, what if:
I don’t know what Gelato is. Ok, time for a life hack. This stuff is in pretty much every grocery store, you just have to do a little hunting in the ice cream freezer section. It’s like a dollar more…but like a million bucks worth tastier!
I don’t want caffeine, I want dessert and then sleep. Right there with you…decaf espresso is a real thing! I have to get mine on Amazon usually…but when Amazon will deliver it in a few hours, there’s no reason to deprive yourself a well deserved Affogato!
